Maria began singing and performing at the age of five. She began her piano studies at the age of six and received first class honour certificates with the Royal Conservatory of Music throughout her formative years. She enjoys teaching voice in a variety of genres including classical, pop and R&B. She has performed in musicals, benefit concerts, weddings and other special occasions. She has achieved a certificate in Basic Musicianship, a diploma in Performing Arts from Douglas College and a Bachelor of Music Degree with a concentration in voice and music education from UBC.
Maria has studied voice with Erica Northcott, Eric Hannan, Helen Lee and Marisa Gaetanne. Currently, she is in the Bachelor of Education program at UBC and will be completing the program on August 9, 2013.
Maria is a choral conductor at her church and is the voice director of a praise and worship group called PS 98 (Psalm 98). She has performed in Australia and Spain for World Youth Day, Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Michael J. Fox theatre and many other venues. In 2010, she had the opportunity to be a member of The Vancouver Cantata Singers which was led by the artistic director Eric Hannan. She has received the Tatsuo Hoshina Voice Award of Distinction from Douglas College and the Maurice Taylor Scholarship Music Award from UBC School of music.
Aside from singing, Maria enjoys DJing for weddings, corporate parties and other events. Maria loves to be with family and friends, dance, travel and play basketball.
