Laurie was raised in Ontario, and comes from a musical family. Her love of music was evident at a young age, and she was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to study the piano, violin, and cello. However, her true passion was always the piano. After moving to British Columbia, Laurie had the privilege of studying piano with some of the most respected teachers in the lower mainland, including; Edward Parker, Winfried Rompf, and Bernard Duerksen. She holds an ARCT Teacher diploma, ARCT Performers diploma, and her Licentiate Performance Diploma (LBCM). After receiving her diplomas, Laurie continued on with further studies of advanced piano repertoire, and advanced theoretical subjects, and has acquired the standing of Advanced Piano, and Advanced Theory specialist from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Laurie has been teaching full time for over 15 years, and enjoys teaching students of all ages, and levels. Her main goal is to find the best approach for each individual student, and to instill a strong understanding of theory, and musicianship, and to help her students along the way in their journey of making, and enjoying music, a skill they can enjoy for their lifetime.
